Profile
Pinarayi Vijayan was born on 21st March 1944 in Pinarayi in Kannur district. Pinarayi Vijayan entered politics through student union activities and eventually joined the Communist Party in 1964. He was the President and Secretary of the Kerala Student's Federation (KSF) and also served as the President of Kerala State Youth Federation (KSYF). During that period, when communists in Kerala were organising political activities from different hide-outs, Pinarayi Vijayan was imprisoned for one and half years. He was subjected to police brutalities during emergency. Later he was elected the President of the Kerala State co-operative Bank. 1970 witnessed his entry in to the Kerala Legislative Assembly. He was re-elected in 1977, 1991 and 1996. He was the Minister for Electricity and Co-operatives in the E.K. Nayanar ministry from 1996 to 1998. In 1998 he became the Party State Secretary. He was elected to the Polit Bureau of CPI (M) in 2002.
Pinarayi as Electricity Minister
Kerala state was going through a rough period with three and half hours of load shedding for domestic consumers and 95 per cent power cut for industries. The Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) was also crippled with financial crisis. In such a scenario, Pinarayi Vijayan became the electricity minister and by the time his term ended, the power generation in the state had increased by 1083.6 MW as against the previous UDF government’s achievement of a paltry 14 MW. The load shedding and power cut were totally withdrawn and Kerala could claim to be self-sufficient in power.
It is sad if it's politically motivated. It is more sad if he had done any mistake.
ReplyDeleteDEAR COMRADE PINARAYI......PORATTANGAL NILAKKUNILLA ..... WE AL WAYS WITH YOU ..
ReplyDeleteNow, with the advent of the Lok Sabha polls, once again the case is being proceeded with.
The use of Central investigating agencies by the ruling party for political purposes should be a matter of serious public concern.

In 2005, American business and financial magazine Forbes listed Castro among the world's richest people, with an estimated net worth of $550 million. The estimates, which the magazine admitted claimed that the Cuban leader's personal wealth was nearly double that of Britain's Queen Elizabeth II. Forbes Magazine later increased the estimates to $900 million, adding rumors of large cash stashes in Switzerland.
ReplyDeleteCastro, who had considered suing the magazine, responded that the claims were "lies and slander", and that they were part of a US campaign to discredit him He declared: "If they can prove that I have a bank account abroad, with $900m, with $1m, $500,000, $100,000 or $1 in it, I will resign."
IF A LEGEND LIKE FIDEL CASTRO FACES SUCH RUTHLESS SLANDEROUS CAMPAIGN BY IMPERIALIST FORCES EVEN NOW, LET US UNDERSTAND THE GAMEPLAN TO DEFAME COMMUNIST LEADERS WORLD OVER. PINARAYI'S CASE IS NO DIFFERENT. WE HAVE TO FIGHT AND DEFEAT THESE ULTERIOR MOTIVES.
LAL SALAAM PINARAYI
we,few like minded people really wished mr.pinarayi vijayan had to come as cheif minister this term of LDF.because he had shown from his few months as minister of electricity, that he is a person with will power, and had found solutions as a crisis managment, when kerala was really facing acute power deficiancy.we need a leader like him right now for kerala.we have proven example as china to follow.we need leaders with vision and willpower to change the pathetc state of our state.
ReplyDeleteit was a mistake from the polit buro, when they decided to appoint VS as cheif minister,by seing some fabricated protest from a vested section arranged by the media managers of VS.may be PB woudnt want a leakage in votes those days in calculation to grab all possibe votes to keep UDF out.
again polit buro took diplomatic position when VS took a different stand in many issiues.that send a wrong message to the ordinary party members, that VS is still strong thus they have started opposing the leadership.its a disciplinary failure.
what we cant understand, why in democratic setup, when the elected party secrectay has majorty support, party dissicions are qestioned?.kerala party and polit buero have to take bold deission to sack VS out.if not there will be confusion about dicipline and the policy of the party.most of the veiws of VS are very theoritic and the speeches are based on shrewd homework to get applause of the weaker section.it can be done by any talented scrip writter.to run a country,we have to realise the reality, and dedicated hardwork needed.
sir we see that in you, cmrd pinarayi.
there will be strong opposition, but as leader who faced lot like this before, we know that you have that courage and capacity to face all this,
we want you to be there in the party to lead as you are the new face of marxist.development along with social commiment.majority of the party members are youth of this time seeks this this.
all the best

ReplyDeleteThe recent allegations against Vijayan on SNC Lavlin are totally baseless and ridiculous, their aim is to tarnish, discolor and taint Vijayan's image, and most importantly to elude the real-culprits, Mr. Karthikeyan,Mr.Kadavoor Sivadasan, Mr.Aryadan Mohammed and Mr. A.K Antony who has started the deal with SNC Lavllin. Some of these names did appear in the initial Vigilance report, but not surprising these names are not in the CBI report. The timing and the unwarranted haste in which the CBI report was submitted only adds fuel to the public suspicion of the conspiracy behind this politically motivated move by CBI.
ReplyDeleteBut for the common man in Kerala, Vijayan will be remembered as the most efficient and competent power minister, who has made their life easier by relieving them from almost 6-8 hours of daily power cuts and acute power shortages in the late 90's and made kerala a power-surplus state in 2000. Most importantly for the people of Malabar, they are grateful to Vijayan in that even in those troubled times of economic crisis, he hasn't forgotten thousands of cancer patients in Malabar by getting help from SNC Lavlin for a cancer hospital in Thalassery and including this project in the deal with SNC-Lavlin. If completed, it would have been another major cancer institiute , but sadly even now the cancer patients of Malabar are depended on Regional Cancer Center, Thiruvananthapuram.
I myself have taken the SSLC during the same period when Vijayan was the power minister, for the first time during my schooling, there was uninterrupted power supply and the brightness with which the lights were glowing still excites me. I have no doubt that for the thousands who has experienced the change which Vijayan has brought to the power sector , this report and the related polarizing in kerala politics will only reinforce their faith, loyalty and confidence on their undisputed leader, Pinaryi Vijayan.
The way in which the detractors have dragged the name of Late E. Balanandan to this controversy only shows upto what extent they will go, to achieve their heinous objective.
